There are three types of document which contain the programme information and make up a definitive record of a programme of study; the module or project outline records details of the individual unit of study, the programme records details of the entire offering, the relationship between any modules and the rules for progression and completion, the ECTS breakdown records the overall assessment and credit allocation.

Each academic department is responsible for maintaining a definitive and up-to-date record of their programme(s) using these documents. Departments must maintain a historic record of all programmes for six years.
