The Biostatistics research group develops new statistical approaches for the analysis of datasets in biology, epidemiology, and medicine. Our members are experts in:

  • Statistical genetics and genetic epidemiology
  • Systems Biology
  • Stratified and personalised medicine
  • Disease mapping
  • Design and analysis of trials and observational studies
  • Public health and policy
  • Infectious disease epidemiology
  • Phylogenetics

We push the frontier of a wide range of statistical techniques, from machine learning to non-parametric and semi-parametric modelling, causal inference, spatiotemporal statistics, mixed and multi-level modelling and longitudinal data analysis.

Members of this group, alongside other colleagues from the Depatment of Mathematics, are members of the “Mathematics in Medicine” research group, which aims to build stronger relationships with researchers from the field of Medicine.
