Computational and experimental research in structural biomechanics and optimised structures

Welcome to the home page of Structural Biomechanics in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London.

The Structural Biomechanics group carries out computational and experimental research in biomechanics and bioinspired structures. In particular the group draws upon techniques and concepts familiar to structural engineering, and applies these in the field of biomechanics.

The group is pursuing research in a number of areas including continuum and structural computational modelling, and dynamic simulation of movement of the musculoskeletal system.

The group has active research collaborations with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Bioengineering, and Musculoskeletal Surgery within the College.
