Fighting depression

The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust has put together an e-learning package for non-specialist staff, designed to support you to help students with mental health issues.

Supervisors need to be aware of the issues and challenges affecting research students and how these can impact on their wellbeing and work-life balance.

The Graduate School has developed an online course, "Supporting the Mental Health and Wellbeing of Imperial College doctoral students."  This course is available anytime, via blackboard.

This section of the website provides links to services that can provide further help and assistance to research students.

Additionally, you can also find important information about the provision available to support your own wellbeing and work-life balance.

As a reminder, if you have any concerns about the welfare of your student, you should consult with your Senior Tutor (PGR) in the first instance.  The Faculty Senior Tutors are able to provide advice.

Zero tolerance to bullying harassment

Imperial is committed to promoting a university environment where everyone is treated with respect and courtesy.  We all have our part to play in showing respect for others.  This involves discouraging harassment, bullying and victimisation by making it clear that such behaviour is unacceptable, supporting those who suffer from it and who are considering making a formal complaint.

Supervisors' Guide: Dr De Wilde on the power dynamics between supervisors and students.

Dr Janet De Wilde, former Head of Postgraduate Professional Development at Imperial College London, talks about the power dynamics which can exist between supervisors and students, and the implications of this in terms of wellbeing.
