What is the Student Experience Survey?

The Student Experience Survey is an annual survey of Imperial students which aims to gather feedback on a range of College services and on Imperial College Union. The survey seeks to understand students’ opinions on life at Imperial beyond lecture theatres or labs.

Who is the survey for?

The 2019/20 survey was open to all non-final year undergraduate students and all postgraduate research students.

Final year undergraduates were not included as they were asked to complete the National Student Survey (NSS) .

Taught postgraduate students are not included as they are asked to complete the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES).

Why do we run the Student Experience Survey?

The survey gives students an opportunity to let us know how their time at Imperial is going, how we're doing and what we could better. The higher the response rate to the survey the more effectively it can be used to make changes.

As an added incentive, students who complete the survey had the option to enter a prize draw to win one of the following prizes:

  • 4 x £50 Amazon vouchers
  • 10 x £30 Amazon vouchers
  • 2 x £20 Union Shop vouchers
  • 6 x £10 Union Shop vouchers

How are your responses protected?

Students could choose not to provide a response to any question in the survey, all information provided is processed in accordance with the College's Privacy Notice for Students and Prospective Students and Data Protection Policy.
