Library and IT
Using the Library
Whether you are based at South Kensington or one of our other campuses, the Library Service is on hand to help you make the most of the resources.
All students are automatically registered with the Library. Your College ID card is your library card – use it to swipe into the library, borrow books and operate the printer-copiers.
If you have not received a College ID card, bring your student registration form (or ID from another college if part of your course is taught at Imperial) to the Welcome Desk in the Central Library or to your home campus library.
- Search our library collections
- Find out where our libraries are located
- Meet your subject librarian and see information sources they recommend for your subject area
- Find out more about the skills training our Library Service provides
Using our IT system
Our Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) team provides all of the central IT systems across Imperial, and they offer a wide range of help to get you started on our IT system.
ICT's new students website has lots of information about activating your College account, setting up your email account, connecting to the campus Wi-Fi and using our virtual learning environment (Blackboard).
If you're having IT problems or you've got a question about using our IT systems, the ICT Service Desk is your first point of contact. It's located on the South Kensington Campus so you can contact them online or in person.
Support is also available in other locations for students not based at South Kensington.
Free Microsoft Office 365 software
You can use your College username and password to download Microsoft Office 365 software for free. This means that you can install the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and more on up to five compatible PCs and Macs, plus five tablets, including iPads.
All of your work can be saved online in OneDrive so that you can access it on any device.
Access software at anytime and from anywhere with Imperial's Software Hub
Access to software couldn't be easier with the Software Hub, a free online software streaming service. The Software Hub provides a wide range of subject specific software which can be accessed at anytime and from anywhere.
