Moving into halls
Welcome to your new home!
Preparing to move into your new home is a great experience. On these pages we have put together everything you will need to prepare prior to your arrival and what to expect during your arrival.
As part of the safety measures we have introduced in response to COVID-19, we have staggered arrivals over a two-week period. You must book your arrival slot through Your Halls e-induction. Whilst you can arrive anytime over these two weeks at no additional cost, we are asking that you only book to arrive on Saturday 19 or Sunday 20 if you are travelling from a destination where you are required to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival. You can find out more in our self-isolating in halls FAQs.
In order to protect one another, face coverings will be essential in all communal and public areas in halls of residence, including receptions, kitchens, social spaces and shared bathrooms. You won’t be required to wear a face covering in your own private bedroom. You can find out more about where else a face covering is essential on the Keeping You Safe webpages.
Residents will also be assigned Household Zones to help manage any instances of COVID-19 within the halls. In halls, such as Woodward, Kemp Porter, Paragon and Parsons House, your zone will be made up everyone living within your cluster flat. In our other halls, zones will be determined based on the kitchens or shared bathroom facilties you use. Find out more about household zones on our self-isolation page.
Please be aware there may be times you are sharing your accommodation with people who are self-isolating, either as a precaution or because they have developed symptoms. As well as supporting all members of your household zones, you should always take precautions when using the shared facilities ensuring you clean touchpoints in those areas before and after use with the cleaning materials provided.
You can read more about some of the other safety measures we have placed for moving in on our arriving to halls page.
- Accept accommodation offer - You will receive your offer of accommodation in Early September. You will have three days to accept your offer - if you do not accept it, you may not receive another one.
- Complete e-induction - Once you have accepted your offer, you will be asked to complete Your Halls e-induction. This induction introduces you to your new hall and should be completed before you arrive.
- Book your arrival slot - You will be asked to book your arrival slot as part of the e-induction. We strongly recommend that you do not make arrangements to move to halls until you have confirmed your arrival slot.
