INSPIRE graduate Damian Phelan We are always keen to hear from new schools that are interested in becoming an INSPIRE partner school.

If you're a state-funded school within London (M25) and can host an INSPIRE student in either science or maths then this is an opportunity for you to benefit from the support of a highly trained postgraduate student with excellent subject knowledge and research experience. Many of our graduates have been subsequently employed by a school they have been placed at.

We work with a variety of school types including comprehensive, grammar schools and faith schools.

As a partner school you can host a student in either their first placement (from September to December), second placement (from January to June) or both.

INSPIRE students do not just gain a PGCE qualification, they will also be trained to deliver a unique range of activities aimed at inspiring a future interest in STEM subjects. Your pupils will have the chance to benefit directly from these activities, which are developed in consultation with experts at Imperial – ranked as one of the top 10 best universities in the world in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016–17 and QS World University Rankings 2016–17.

In addition, you will receive payment for mentoring (currently around £11 per day).

All of our partner schools enjoy a close relationship with Imperial's Outreach team which gives them access to various other opportunties to enhance their STEM teaching such as STEM lectures for schools and Pimlico Connection tutoring.

If your school meets the criteria outlined above and you would be interested in becoming a partner school then please email the INSPIRE team at

Please note that the Inspire programme will not run in 2020-21
