Below is a timetable of buildings and works at the White City Campus north and south site, including those already complete as well as planned construction activity for future buildings.
The exact dates of projected works are subject to changes and alterations, and for the very latest information, Imperial publishes a monthly round-up of detailed construction updates in the form of a pdf construction newsletter, which can be downloaded from the link on the left.
All building projects at the White City Campus are signed up to the Considerate Constructors Scheme to ensure that everything possible is being done to be good neighbours. These measures include monitoring noise, suppressing dust and ensuring that construction traffic arrives and leaves site in a considerate way.
Current government guidelines state that construction activity is permitted to continue provided that safety guidance from Public Health England is rigorously enforced. We are working closely with contractors who remain on site to ensure that social distancing measures are implemented and safe working distances are complied with.
We will continue to monitor guidelines from Public Health England to ensure that construction workers continue to operate in the safest possible environment.
Timeline of development
School of Public Health
Construction continues to make good progress. A pit lane that aims to segregate construction traffic will be erected once the roadway is sufficiently widened. The target for the pit lane to be fully operational continues to be the end of August.
Vibrant, new window graphics—reflecting the College’s ethos—have been installed on the ground floor windows of the Sir Michael Uren Hub and 88 Wood Lane. The printed vinyl graphics are designed to enhance the appearance of the buildings while the ground floor spaces are developed.
Road Widening Works
The enlargement of the road at the North campus main entrance has started, and these works will be completed by the end of July. Although pedestrian diversions will become operational, access for both vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained throughout the works.
Piling works for the third building in the Scale Space development (Building C), are complete. The steel frame erection will commence shortly, and contractors anticipate completion in Q2 2022.
Phase 2 infrastructure works around the buildings are now substantially complete.
In June, the College installed a giant outdoor screen outside Scale Space. It is being used to screen key events, promote activities of interest, news, and offerings to the Campus community.
Sport Space (MUGA Pitch)
The new multi-sports facility located at the front of Scale Space is progressing. However, delivery issues mean the target for opening has moved to the end of July.
UK Power Networks Substation
Work towards a ‘power on’ date of October 2021 continues on the new primary substation with building works complete.
