A youth workshop

Welcome to The Invention Rooms

The Invention Rooms are a unique space for community innovation in White City.

They are a mixture of workshops, design studios and interactive spaces that will bring together our neighbours from the local community with Imperial’s academics, students, alumni and partners to get creative, build prototypes and share in the fun of making and discovery.

Located on Wood Lane, just two minutes from White City station, The Invention Rooms are part of Imperial’s new White City Campus, a major new campus in West London.

Make your ideas into reality

The first of its kind in the UK, The Invention Rooms are an unprecedented approach to local engagement in research and education, combined with cutting-edge innovation. They are a place for making ideas into reality.

Over the coming years, we hope to inspire generations of inventors, entrepreneurs and makers from the local area and beyond.

How can I get involved?

The Invention Rooms opened in autumn in 2017 with a range of programmes for young people from the local community to take part in making and prototyping, as well as a hackspace for our students, staff and partners to engage in specialist prototyping and advanced manufacturing.

In spring 2018, we will be opening a dedicated events and interaction space, which will be a venue for exhibitions, classes and activities, plus a café and outdoor terrace area.

Events, tours and activities take place all year round. Explore what’s on.
