Nereida Abad-Yang

Nereida began her undergraduate studies at Imperial College London in 2019 and has now graduated as a MSci in Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry with a first class mark. Troughout her time at Imperial, she developed an interest in the fields of chemical biology and drug discovery. Nereida has initially joined the Di Antonio group to complete her MSci research project, where she has worked on alternative pathways to synthesise long repeat sequences of DNA, which have been linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and FTD. Nereida is now continuing this research in the group as a MRes in Chemical Biology, and she will be investigating the aggregation properties of key retained introns in ALS and FTD in collaboration with Prof Rickie Patani at the Crick.
