Most commercial long range guided wave inspection is in the petrochemical industry. However, there are many potential applications in the power industry that require more research. For example, pipes in the power industry are often thicker walled than those commonly tested in the petrochemical industry and this can produce extra guided wave modes that must be accounted for; there is also a requirement to detect axial cracking which is a new application of the technology. This project is investigating these areas and other potential applications of the technology in E-ON.
