Dear Colleagues

Thank you for all the warm messages and encouragement so many of you have given me throughout my treatment for cancer.  I was moved by the stories some of you shared about how cancer has touched your lives and your messages have given me strength.

I am writing to let you know that I have recovered from a successful surgery and am finishing some additional chemotherapy.  Throughout the past six months, I’ve appreciated the support of my colleagues and the opportunities to work together, sometimes remotely but increasingly in person.

I plan to give my eighth President’s Address on the afternoon of 20 July and look forward to seeing many of you there, or perhaps before then, as we come together for awards and celebrations this summer.

In the meantime, I wish you a very happy long weekend as the country celebrates the historic milestone of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Best regards
