About the event

Members of the Communications Network gathered for a training session on photography and image management, led by the College Photographer, Thomas Angus.

Images are everywhere - a window into the Imperial world, and an important, powerful media”

There is a comprehensive guide to photography at Imperial on the Communications photography web pages. Topics covered in the talk (and in detail on the webpages) include:

Using the College Asset Library to find existing images

  • Over 30,000 images in 2018/19, with curated collections of featured images
  • You can browse by particular folders to view a selection of similar images and make it easier to find what you are looking for
  • You can view bigger thumbnails by pressing CTRL and scrolling with the mouse
  • Advanced search function can de-value” event images so they aren’t prioritised in the search, and can be used to drill down in detail to find specific images.
  • There is a Diversity Collection – curated images showing diversity at the college – that can be found under “IMPDV”
  • Uploading photos to the asset media – Communications staff at the College can request training in order to be able to upload images themselves by contacting Liz Scholfield.

  • Criteria for coverage by the in-house team
  • The freelance roster and contracts
