In 2020-21, despite challenging global circumstances, the Imperial community maintained its large-scale research collaborations with industry, expanded its academic consultancy activities, and licensed more IP to external organisations. These activities are helping to boost the economy and address industrial and societal challenges such as digital transformation and the transition to zero carbon.

Imperial staff and students also founded more startups this year than ever before, supported in part by continued development of our entrepreneurial ecosystem in London’s White City. The Imperial College Enterprise Fund also made its first investments.

These successes are supporting Imperial's effort to help create a global society that is sustainable, healthy, resilient and smart.
