Files created using other programmes can be uploaded to your Panopto folders and shared with the appropriate audiences.  

Media can either be uploaded directly or a session can be built from individual streams of content (i.e. audio, video and presentation slides). Once a session is uploaded or built, it can be edited, managed or shared in the same ways that other recordings are.

You will need to have the Creator role on a Panopto folder to upload content or build a session. If you require Creator access, please complete a request via ASK Service Now. 

Download from MS Teams  

Meetings that have been recorded in Microsoft Teams are automatically stored in Microsoft Stream. From here they can be downloaded and then uploaded onto Panopto using the guides below. For information on downloading content from MS Streams, please see the Microsoft support site.

Upload to Panopto

You can upload audio and files to create a new session. The length and quality of the recording can impact the time it takes to process uploaded sessions.

To upload a file, follow these steps:  

  1. Go to imperial.cloud.panopto.eu and enter your College username and password
  2. Click on the blue Create button at the top of the screen and select Upload media
  3. Select the dropdown menu by Add files to select the folder that you wish to upload your content.  
  4. To upload a file, drag it from your local device into the box with the dashed line or click on this area to select a file from your device
  5. Once uploaded, the file will need to process on the Panopto server. Whilst processing is taking place, you can change the settings and sharing permissions for the recording by hovering over the file and selecting the Settings cog

Build a session

Panopto recordings can be built from scratch, with audio, video and PowerPoint/Keynote presentation slides being uploaded and combined for viewing in the Panopto Web Viewer. 

The length and quality of the recording can impact the time it takes to process uploaded sessions.

To build a recording, follow these steps:  

  1. Go to imperial.cloud.panopto.eu and enter your College username and password
  2. Click on the blue Create button at the top of the screen and select Build a session
  3. Enter a Name for the session and select the appropriate Folder. Select the Create button
  4. You can now upload your Primary Stream. This is usually your video and/audio content. To upload a file, drag it from your local device into the box with the dashed line or click on this area to select a file from your device
  5. Whilst the Primary Stream is processing, you can add additional audio and visual content, as well as PowerPoint or Keynote presentation files, using the same method. All uploaded streams will automatically process. 

Whilst the session processes, you can change the settings and sharing permissions for the recording by selecting the Settings cog in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
