LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that automatically provides links to the full text of journal articles subscribed to by Library Services, while you are carrying out your research. It is currently available for Chrome and Edge.

If we do not hold a subscription to an article it will point you to open access alternatives.

Installing LibKey Nomad

Chrome and Firefox

  1. Open Chrome or Firefox
  2. Go to web store for Chrome or for Firefox .
  3. Click ‘Add’ button to add Libkey Nomad to your browser.
  4.  Open Libkey Nomad and select Imperial College London

Edge 

  1. Open Edge and go to http://libkeynomad.com This will redirect to the Chrome store where you can download LibKey Nomad.
  2. Click Allow when you are prompted with a pop-up message asking, ‘Allow extensions from other store’. Outdated version of the browser will not pop up the message so ensure you are using the latest version.
  3. When installed, open Libkey Nomad and select Imperial College London.

Using LibKey Nomad

Once installed, the Libkey Nomad button will appear at the side of your browser when you find a journal article you wish to access.

Click on the button and you will be prompted to log in with your College username and password.

After logging in, LibKey Nomad will remember that you are valid Imperial user, for a set period, so you will not be asked to log in again.

The articles you download will be in PDF format.

If the article you search for is not found an Access Options button will appear.

Clicking on Access Options will take you to Library Search where you can request the article through our Document Delivery Service or Ask a question.
