Activity |
A process or set of processes undertaken by an organization (or on its behalf) that produces or supports one or more products or services. |

Activity Impact Analysis (AIA) |
The process of analysing activity functions and the effect that a disruption might have upon them to identify critical activities and appropriate actions to mitigation disruption and aid recovery. |
|
Battle Box |
A container - often literally a box or brief case - in which data and information is stored so as to be immediately available post incident. |
|
Business Continuity (BC) |
The strategic and tactical capability of the organization to plan for and respond to incidents and disruptions in order to continue normal operations/activities at an acceptable level. |
|
Business Continuity Management (BCM) |
A holistic management process that identifies potential threats to an organization and the impacts to normal operations/activities that those threats—if realised—might cause, and which provides a framework for building organisational resilience with the capability for an effective response that safeguards the interests of its key stakeholders, reputation, brand, and value-creating activities. |

Call Out List |
A list of contact details for people identified to assist with response to an incident |

Crisis Management Group (CMG) |
A Group of individuals responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive response to a disruptive incident. The team consists of a core group of decision-makers and may be supported by other people appropriate to the incident |

Critical Activities |
Vital functions without which an organization or group will either not survive or will lose the capability to effectively achieve its critical objectives. |

Recovery Point Objective (RPO) |
The point to which activity needs to be recovered (e.g the point of loss or the point of last backup). It is a point in time at which data or capacity of a process is in a known, valid state and can safely be restored from. |

Recovery Time Objective (RTO) |
The target time for resuming the activity that has been disrupted to an acceptable level following its disruption. This may be expressed as a phased return over a period. |

Resilience |
The ability of an organisation to resist being adversely affected by an incident. |
|
Senior Emergency Response Group (SERG) |
A group normally led by the Provost or President to ensure the wider interests of the College are protected during a disruptive event. This includes management of College interaction with the media and protection of the College’s reputation. |

Stakeholder |
Individual or group having an interest in the performance or success of an organization e.g., customers, partners, staff, students, the local community, first responders, government, and regulators. |
|
Table Top Exercise |
Technique for rehearsing emergency teams in which participants review and discuss the actions they would take according to their plans, but do not perform any of these actions; can be conducted with a single team, or multiple teams, typically under the guidance of exercise facilitators. |
