ASET: The Work-based and Placement Learning Association
ASET was established to advance the prevalence, effectiveness and quality of work-based and placement learning in Higher Education and promote and publish research into that system of education. In practice, they do this by running workshops and conferences, publishing good practice guides and viewpoints, promoting and supporting research, facilitating discussion through online forums and dissemination through e-bulletins, and working with other bodies to advocate for our members. AUA   - The AUA (Association of University Administrators) is the professional body for managers and administrators working in Higher Education. Its overall aim is to promote professional excellence in HE, and it does so by raising the profile of management and administration, developing best practice and championing high standards. It is not a trade union and shouldn't be confused with the work of the trade unions. Membership is open to all Staff within Imperial College London performing managerial, administrative or clerical duties.

CIPD - Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. The CIPD, with over 90,000 members in the UK & Ireland, is Europe's largest professional institute for those involved in the management and development of people.

ERASMUS+: Funding opportunities for short training visits within Europe are available through the EU's flagship education and training programme (Staff across academic and non-academic departments are eligible). Further details.

Floodlight   - Floodlight is the official guide to courses in London. This includes all the part-time and full-time courses run by public-sector colleges, universities and adult education centres in London boroughs. Whether you want an introduction to local history or a postgraduate degree in economics, you'll find it here.

Higher Education and Technicians Education and Development (HEaTED) This is a national initiative that has grown in response to demands from within the technician community for a central source of information and development opportunities. They are linked to Myscience supported by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, and funded on operational issues by HEFCE.

Leadership Foundation for Higher Education   - LFHE is dedicated to supporting the professional development of all staff employed by universities and colleges. The website contains general information about LFHE and a Members' Area accessible by staff working at subscribing institutions. The members' area provides access to networking opportunities and discussion lists, publications (paper-based and electronic), courses and conference information, advisory and consultancy services, the resources database, and the new LFHE Advisory Group Task Forces.

Tuition fee remission scheme for staff

Staff who register for a part-time postgraduate degree at Imperial may be eligible for reducing their tuition fee through the tuition fee remission scheme.
This includes part-time MBA programmes at Imperial College Business School.
