Staff Numbers - College

The above graph shows staff numbers (full-time equivalent) between 2015-16 and 2019-20. Total staff numbers have increased by 5.3% over this time period, with academic staff numbers increasing by 11.4%, research staff numbers decreasing by 7.3%, and support staff numbers increasing by 11.9%.

Student: Staff Ratio - All Students

The above graph shows the student: staff ratio each year between 2015-16 and 2019-20. The student : staff ratio has steadily increased over this time period however from 2018-19 to 2019-20 the ratio decreased from 13.7 to 13.5.

Student load is based on student numbers (full-time equivalent) from snapshots taken at 31 December of each year. Student load is the full-time equivalent teaching load undertaken by a department, taking account of service teaching supplied to and received from other departments. It includes research postgraduate supervision load. Note that from 2016-17, the methodology for calculation of student: staff ratio was modified to be in line with the method employed by HESA.
