Institutional Events
The Institutional Events team programmes and organises a portfolio of events to connect the College with its many friends, audiences and stakeholders.
These events range from large-scale events such as graduation ceremonies and the Imperial Festival to VIP visits or bespoke events for small invited audiences. We also work closely with colleagues across the College to support them with their events and to develop and share good practice. Our work is orientated around the College’s strategic priorities on collaboration, influence and sharing the wonder.
Our events
Events we organise or support include:
- Major events hosted by the President, including the annual President’s Address
- VIP visits to the College, including visits by heads of state, ministers and royalty
- Outward and international visits by senior College leadership
- Graduation ceremonies, held bi-annually at the Royal Albert Hall for 10,000 graduates, family members and special guests
- Special lectures and inaugural lectures
- Collaborations with other South Kensington Institutions
Our audiences and guests
Audiences and guests vary according to the event but can include staff, students, families, alumni, corporate partners, donors, funders, decision and policy makers, researchers, collaborators, the media and the general public. Audiences are often mixed, allowing Imperial events to act as a platform for new friendships, insights and collaborations. We aim to provide all those who support Imperial and what we do to with a wide range of opportunities to begin, continue or resume their engagement with us.
Our College partners
Besides planning, coordinating and delivering our own portfolio of events, we assist colleagues across the College on one-off and high-profile events they lead on. We also work with our colleagues in Campus Services, Facilities Management and Security to develop the systems and infrastructure to support the smooth and successful delivery of events across our campuses.
