Incident near Woodward Buildings and the Costume Store - December 2016

We know students and parents are concerned following the incident last night near the student halls in North Acton, in which it appeared a man was stabbed and after being taken to hospital, died a short while later.

It is not thought at this stage that the victim was a student at the University of the Arts and we can confirm he was not a student at Imperial.

In view of this incident, extra security was immediately arranged for Woodward Buildings and the Costume Store over the weekend.

The local wardening team, responsible for pastoral care at each of our student halls, was on hand to support and reassure students on Thursday night and the team remains available for any student to contact directly over the weekend. One of the head wardens will be contacting all of our students based at these halls again on Friday evening.

In addition, the Head of Student Counselling, Rosie Summerhayes, and the College chaplain, Andrew Willson, will be holding a support meeting for students on Monday at Woodward Buildings, open to any students who wish to attend. Students affected by these events can also contact the College Tutors, Senior Tutors based in their department, or the student counselling service for support.

The police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room at Sutton Police Station on 020 8721 4054 or call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
