Transport disruptions – January 2016

London Underground strike

London Underground station staff who are union members are currently planning to strike from 18.00 this Sunday 8 January for 24 hours. If the strike action goes ahead, Tube services are expected to be severely reduced on Sunday evening and all day Monday 9 January.

Most Zone 1 Tube stations will be closed, including South Kensington and Gloucester Road tube stations.

Buses, roads and rail services are expected to be much busier than usual, particularly those bus routes serving major interchange stations. Although National Rail services would not be affected by the strike, there would be no Tube services from key interchange stations.

Southern Railway strike

A Southern Railway drivers’ strike is planned, which means that there will be no Southern service on Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11, and Friday 13 January. Other train services are expected to be busier than usual.

In addition, services on all routes will be severely disrupted on all dates until further notice due to action by ASLEF union that means drivers are not working overtime.
