Startbook

• At least one of the company founders must be an Imperial alum.
• You can apply for up to three pages per venture - one company page and two founder pages. This limit is in place to enable us to offer pages to as many alumni founders as possible. If you feel you have a special case to request additional pages, please get in touch to discuss.
• Only alumni founders can create a Startbook page. We're sorry but we're not able to offer profile pages to co-founders who are not Imperial alumni.
• Your company and founders should not already have access to Startbook profiles via other connections (e.g. companies who have come through Enterprise Lab programmes may already have a Startbook page).
• You should be able to demonstrate evidence of innovation in terms of product, service or market, and a working minimum viable 'product', service and/or prototype.

It's easy to apply for up to three pages (you, your company and an additional alumni co-founder) by completing this form. and providing some information about you and your company.

Once we have checked that your application meets the eligibility requirements, we'll upload the information you have provided into the Startbook platform and you'll receive an email from Startbook with a link and instructions to complete the setup of your pages.

A few things to be aware of:

• Applications will be reviewed by the Alumni Engagement team to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements.
• Pages will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis to alumni who meet the eligibility criteria, as long as pages are available.
• When the total pages available have already been allocated, a wait list will be made available for alumni to join.
• If a company fails or you no longer wish to use a Startbook page for that company, you will need to return to the application stage. You are not able to just change the name of the company.
• Please be aware that it may take us up to three weeks to process your application and send your activation link, although we aim to get this to you sooner. As this is a new benefit for alumni, (launching in June 2025), we are expecting a large amount of applications to work through in the first few months.

Your Startbook pages are reserved for you for two years.

• We'll get in touch after one year for a health check to see if you need to make any changes to your pages or update your company information. If you find you have not used your pages by this point, we ask you to consider releasing them so another alumni founder can have access to this benefit. 
• As you approach the end of the two year period, we will contact you through Startbook to ask you to reapply for your pages. 
• If you choose not to reapply for your pages after the initial two years, or we do not respond to this prompt, your pages will be deactivated for six months before being permanently deleted. This deactivation period will allow for any appeals or issues to be resolved.

When applying for your Startbook pages, we ask you to provide some basic identifying information and contact details for yourself, and some detailed questions about your startup.

The data you provide will be used to update your record on the alumni database, as detailed in the Advancement Division's Privacy Notice.

The information you provide in the application form will also be imported to the Startbook platform to enable you to activate your account and create your pages. This will be processed in line with Startbook's Privacy Policy.
