Faculty of Engineering (2001 - )

The Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College London was formed in 2001 and formally inaugurated in August 2002. The Faculty comprises 10 Departments, and is one of the largest engineering faculties in the UK, with 1,000 staff, over 4,200 students and an annual turnover in excess of £90M.

It is the largest Engineering Faculty in the UK, with the largest number of academic staff in the 5* category in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), the benchmark of research quality for all higher education departments in the country. 5* rating indicates that the quality of research is of international excellence in a majority of sub-areas of activity and of national calibre in all others.
