Medicine and Life Sciences

Led by the Faculty of Medicine and Department of Life Sciences, you will cover topics related to human physiology, as well as the way this is applied in the medical field. You will be taught by Imperial academics, practicing clinicians and will interact with students to further your understanding of the medical profession and the path towards becoming a medical doctor. You will be taught clinical skills and how they are applied in the medical context.

In previous years, sessions included: learning research and programming skills in epidemiology with the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative; studying the physiology of the urinary system through case studies and experiments; and exploring the cell biology of cancer through laboratory research. In 2020, students learned about the pros and cons of being a doctor and attended an interactive lecture on diabetes. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions during a Q&A session on studying medicine which was hosted by current Imperial undergraduates.
