The Conversation Project pairs current staff and students who speak English as their first language with overseas students and academic visitors for informal English conversation sessions.

It's run by the Centre for Academic English and the Outreach team and it's designed to help people at the College who are have difficulty conversing in English, and who may be experiencing culture shock.

As a volunteer you would be expected to meet your language partner for an hour, once a week, for at least five weeks. These are one-to-one sessions which will take place in/around the South Kensington Campus.

To apply, download and complete the Conversation Project Application Form [PDF] and send it to English Teacher Mrs Liz Chiu at

Before you are confirmed as a volunteer we will ask you to read the Volunteer induction – Conversation Project [PDF] and complete an online questionnaire. If you meet our requirements, we will aim to pair you as soon as possible.
