This project aims to establish the fundamental understanding of the fracture mechanism of central cracking in cross wedge rolling and propose a robust damage model to predict the central crack formation in real application.

The central cracking predicted by FE model embedded with the proposed damage model is compared with that observed in physical model, resulting a high consistency in fracture morphology.
