What is the current student experience?
The Business School is open for the 2020/21 academic year, and our programmes commenced in September 2020.
We are delivering the programmes through our innovative multi-mode approach that provides a joint learning experience for our students.
We have introduced the ‘multi-mode’ teaching model which allows students the flexibility to move between on-campus and remote learning. Our study spaces have been designed to enable students to fully participate in class debates and discussion whether joining remotely or in person.
We are aware that coming to Imperial College Business School is not just about the educational experience – it’s about making new friends, having fun and being part of a vibrant community. We are proud that we have one of the largest varieties of student-led activities at a university in the UK, with over 380 clubs, societies and projects. We’re working hard, together with the Imperial College Union, to make sure that you have an extraordinary experience beyond the classroom whether you are with us, or still at home at the start of the year.
Regardless of whether you are in the lecture theatre or participating remotely, every student is able to benefit from close engagement with our faculty; access our exceptional careers offering; network with Imperial’s global community of students, alumni and thought leaders; and enjoy a full suite of student experience activities.
You can find more information here about life at Imperial College Business School and here for the wider Imperial College student experience.
We have implemented social distancing requirements and other safety measures based on the official guidance and what’s appropriate for our locations, ensuring we can safely move about and work on campus within the social distancing guidelines and maintain cleanliness. We have repurposed some spaces in order to give our students and staff more space to work and move around.
Wearing a face covering is now essential in most locations on campus. Face coverings should cover both your mouth and nose. View the guidance for students about safety on campus.
We have introduced a local contact-tracing procedure at the College which will interface with the NHS’s Test and Trace service. This means that any local instances can be quickly dealt with and contacts traced to prevent further spread of the virus locally at the College, and also more widely, dependent on the situation.
We have implemented clear signage and protocols to ensure you can go about your business while maintaining social distancing and good hygiene. Around the College and in teaching spaces, there are hand sanitisers and multi-surface cleaning wipes for you to use, as well as plenty of hand-washing facilities.
What will happen for future programmes?
Multi-mode teaching will be embedded in how we teach our programmes and provide flexibility for students to join us from across the world, whether in person or online. We will continue to review the social distancing guidance when appropriate and make further decisions in the best interests of our students and staff.
Are there any changes to the admissions process?
There are no changes to the admissions process, and applications are open for all our programmes. Applications from prospective students are being accepted as usual, and the entire application process is delivered online, so there is no interruption in your ability to apply to join us in the future. All interviews will take place online.
Can I visit the campus?
Only current students, staff and essential external visitors are permitted to visit the campus at present. You can engage with us at one of our regular virtual events or information sessions, where you’ll be able to meet our Recruitment team, find out information about our programmes, and ask any questions you may have.
Can I engage with current students to learn more?
If you want to know more about what it’s like to study at Imperial, you can start a chat with our Student Ambassadors, who are here to answer your questions and tell you about their experiences at the Business School.
