Why get involved?

There are many ways alumni can continue to directly engage with the School and our students, helping to build the School’s reputation as world-class teaching facility. As a valued volunteer you will be well supported by the Alumni Relations team and we will ensure your time is spent wisely, your talents put to the best use and develop your skills, and your experience meaningful and rewarding. The Business School welcomes alumni from all programmes and years to give time as a volunteer.

The role of alumni volunteers is to:

  • Increase the profile and visibility of the Business School globally
  • Attract top students to the School
  • Enrich and support the student experience by helping student employability by serving as a resource and talent pool for the Business School
  • Provide feedback and advice to current students
  • Support the growth and development of the School’s offering
  • Continue to build the strength of our alumni community

Since I myself received so much help from Imperial Business School and Career Service, I was very glad to share my experience with the current students. Plus, reconnecting with Business School makes me feel happy.

Here are some of the specific ways you can get involved:

Volunteer with recruitment: Attend a reception for newly-admitted students or participate in an information session to speak with prospective student’s worldwide and answer queries via email, on the phone or in person

Volunteer with student groups: Engage with current students through clubs and professionals group events.

Explore speaking opportunities: Come back to campus to offer industry insights, career advice, and direction to current students and fellow alumni through career/industry presentations.

Engage with the Alumni network: Attend events and volunteer with an alumni group in your area or with an alumni group that fits your specific industry or professional interest. Or think about becoming an Alumni Advisory Board member, serving to communicate alumni views and interests to the Business School and champion our vision.

Organise a reunion: If you have a graduating anniversary coming up, why not consider hosting a reunion event? The Alumni Relations team can support you with this, and it is a great way to reengage with your former classmates.

Develop the power of alumni global connections: If you are based outside of the UK, consider becoming an international contact, helping us to remain engaged with all our alumni by organising local events, or answering questions from relocating alumni.

Share your knowledge: Alumni can host webinars, write thought-leadership articles and blog posts, act as case studies, provide marketing quotes, or get involved in sharing and promoting our social media channels.
