The Energy Hall at the Science Museum was the impressive setting for this year’s Annual Business School’s Alumni Celebration, which saw over 150 alumni, guests and staff welcomed back to South Kensington. The evening was a celebration of the lifelong connection alumni have with the Business School and Imperial College. It was fantastic to see representation from cohorts spanning over 40 years, with alumni from 1976 right up to 2018 and across all programmes. The event was a great chance for guests to reconnect with former classmates and network with other alumni.

Erin Hallet, Head of Alumni Relations at the Business School welcomed the guests to the event and spoke about the continuing benefits alumni receive by remaining connected to the School.  Dean Francisco Veloso then took to the stage to talk about the future of the School. Outlining the ambitious 10 year vision of the School and our strategic goals, he highlighted the importance of remaining competitive and forward-thinking, and the role alumni can play in this.

We believe in the transformative power of education and when we meet alumni and learn about how they are changing the world, it’s really inspiring.
Dean Francisco Veloso
Dean of Imperial College Business School

The Dean then officially launched our new social media campaign #ImperialMeansBusiness and it provided a chance for a bit of fun, with our alumni photo booth! The new campaign hopes to encourage alumni and students to share their success, achievements and experiences during their time here.

Our thanks to all who came and helped make it such a special night. You can view photos from the evening here.

Elynor Chiu (Full-Time MBA 2011)

Current Alumni Advisory Board member, Elynor, flew in from America where she lives, to attend to event, alongside other meetings at the Business School: “What a fantastic space to meet fellow alumni, old and new!  I always look forward to this event to reconnect and network. It is also a great opportunity to talk to faculty, staff and the Dean and learn about new developments taking place at the School.”

Usman Syed (Weekend MBA 2018)

For recent graduate Usman, this was his first alumni event since completing his programme and he told us: “The Imperial College Business School Alumni Celebration was a fantastic event and a great opportunity to hear from the Dean Francisco Veloso regarding the plans in place to propel the Business School in the right direction. It was an ideal platform to meet fellow alumni and old classmates to hear where their careers have taken them since graduating from the Business School and how their respective degrees have helped them offer a distinct advantage in their career progression.”

Gabrielle Ma (Full-Time MBA 2001)

And finally Gabrielle, who graduated 17 year ago enjoyed the event, saying: “It was a lovely evening, thank you for organising it. I spoke to so many nice people!”
