Carlos Vitoria (Full-Time MBA ’13) talks about his MBA journey from civil engineer in Spain to consultant at Deloitte in London.
Before starting the Full-Time MBA at Imperial College Business School, Carlos spent five years working for a Spanish construction conglomerate across projects throughout Spain and Greece. When his work became more focused on strategic planning and financial management, Carlos decided an MBA would be beneficial to his career development.
Wanting to tap into the business hub and networking opportunities provided by London, Carlos relocated to study at Imperial, which appealed to him due to its strong reputation in both engineering and business. Linking technology and science with business, the Full-Time MBA gave Carlos exposure to areas such as energy, and more specifically, how renewable energy business works. Carlos based his final thesis on this subject and was subsequently offered his first job at the third largest residential solar company in the USA following the completion of his MBA.
With access to a network of Imperial College alumni, Carlos was able to meet his current boss, which ultimately led to his employment at consulting firm Deloitte. Carlos is now a manager at Deloitte in London, specialising in providing advisory services to clients in the infrastructure and energy industries who are delivering large investment programmes.
