Why did you choose Imperial College Business School?

The Business School offers a unique opportunity to combine world-class knowledge of technology and business. I chose Imperial because of its reputation and because I was very attracted by the idea of participating in this blend of disciplines. If you are proactive, it is possible to meet a lot of people who are making an impact in different fields of technology and medicine. This is very interesting from a business perspective, as it feels like being in the cradle of many future businesses.

What did receiving a Social Impact Scholarship mean for you?

Apart from the financial aid to support my personal and professional development, the Social Impact scholarship allowed me to connect with other scholarship recipients and inspired me to continue searching for new development project opportunities. I have been able to share and learn about social impact initiatives that may result in new opportunities to collaborate and work with my peers on new projects. Being exposed to this is an amazing opportunity to continue trying to make a positive social impact in new ways.

Why did you choose Imperial College Business School?

Renowned for its incubator schemes, world-leading academics, business mentoring programmes and collaborations with reputable institutes, such as the Grantham Institute, Imperial serves as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship right in the heart of London. The multidisciplinary nature of this Master’s, along with the opportunity it gives me to get real industry insights and networking opportunities, I believe makes it one of the first of its kind in the field of climate change, management and finance.

What did receiving a Social Impact Scholarship mean for you?

This scholarship meant a lot to me! It was a great honour and a reward to my previous work in the humanitarian aid/social innovation sphere. It motivated me to continue developing sustainable solutions through solar power for communities around the world. Why did you choose Imperial College Business School?

I’m deeply convinced that we can have the most impact on society by combining three fundamental elements: technological innovation, a business mindset and the human factor. All these conditions are profoundly rooted in Imperial’s philosophy of bringing together brilliant minds and highly motivated people to tackle the world’s biggest challenges.

What did receiving a Social Impact Scholarship mean for you?

Receiving the Social Impact Scholarship meant two things to me: appreciation and motivation. It feels like an appreciation for the last few years where I founded Waterfilter – a social startup with the vision to empower individuals in Tanzania to be able to provide access to safe drinking water for others and themselves by taking entrepreneurial action. Such recognition has motivated me to continue harnessing the power of business to effect positive social change.
