Imperial College Business School is off to a great start!
We have now finished our second set of courses and my first two months at Imperial College Business School are officially over. And what a time it has been!
When I arrived for our first session at the Business School in the beginning of September, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I had expectations of course. At a university with the reputation of Imperial, it’s hard not to expect excellence. Nevertheless, coming from Sweden where you can get good quality education without tuition fees, I was a bit nervous for how they actually compare. Was it a good investment or not? And even if I’ve only been here for two months, I already feel confident that this was a great decision and an even better investment.
It’s hard not to be impressed by the ambition of Imperial College Business School. It is reflected through the investments made in the Business School, the ever-increasing number of programmes and applicants, but also through the smaller things such as the modern teaching facilities. However, even if there are many things to be impressed by, the careers team is probably what has impressed me the most. We have already had several of the world’s most renowned firms here (i.e. BCG, Amazon, IBM, EY etc.) and the careers team is definitely something out of the ordinary. They work hard to help you find the right career path and then they do everything to help you get there. It’s definitely something special to see the dedication they have to help you improve in every part of your application process. They help you through workshops, online modules and one-to-one sessions. For me, I’ve never experienced anything like it. With that support I’m not surprised that several people every year go on to work for some of the biggest firms within consulting, finance and FMCG (to only mention a few areas). Hopefully, I will be one of them next year. And with the quality I’ve experienced so far, I feel a lot more confident that I will be one of them. That is when the investment really starts to pay off.
Finally, as I mentioned before, I’ve only been here for two months. It is therefore hard to know if my overall impression at this early stage will be representative for the programme as a whole. One thing is however completely clear, Imperial College Business School sure is off to a great start.
