It’s been now 2 months since I joined the full-time MBA at Imperial College Business School. Coming from Colombia, I have to admit that I knew very little about Imperial College London before arriving. Now, a little bit of myself and my background. I would say I’m a very atypical MBA student. I’m an entrepreneur who has worked for myself and grown my company ever since I graduated from my undergrad. So why on earth would an entrepreneur join an MBA program? I asked myself many times whether doing an MBA would actually provide any value to my professional and life goals. Two months in, and I can without doubt say that the answer to my last question is definitely yes: it’s an amazing and intense learning experience that you will remember forever. It’s an investment not only for your professional career, but for the story of your life.
As an entrepreneur you sometimes mistakenly over rely on your intuition and I was well aware of that. Doing an MBA felt like the most sensible answer to my desire to take my business to the next level and have a full stop in my entrepreneurial career to think about new ideas and start a new business that could leverage my team in Colombia. Kudos to my co-founder and friend who is running the business in the meantime, and has allowed me to dream with the idea of doing business in the UK!
When I chose Imperial College Business School I knew I was coming to a tier 1 school. I was looking for a one year program, in London, and with a strong focus on entrepreneurship and innovation. As it appears, my googling went pretty well, and I’ve now realized I made the right choice coming to one of the best MBA programs with a focus in entrepreneurship worldwide.
The experience so far has been fantastic. I have had the privilege to share with extremely talented and intelligent people, but what has truly made this journey more interesting and fun, is the diversity, supportive and friendly cohort I found. I now realize how lucky I’ve been by choosing Imperial, and I cannot wait until more of this amazing program and experience unfolds.
