Christmas is a magical time all over the UK but the season truly comes alive in London with all manner of festivities. There is no better place to spend the festive period, whether that is with family or friends. With the autumn term coming to an end, a visit to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit.
Last week, the whole of the MSc Economics & Strategy for Business cohort decided to take full advantage of the festivities there after finishing class on a Tuesday night. Some of us were in sheer anticipation of how much fun we were going to have, while others kept talking about how much they enjoyed it last year.
When I arrived at Winter Wonderland, I was amazed to see how vast it was and I kept thinking how they managed to build this “mini village” within Hyde Park. The “streets” were lined up with Christmas Markets, carnival-style rides and circus shows. There was music blasting from speakers in every corner, with live bands also playing in certain areas. Some of us couldn’t resist our excitement and started dancing…
Although I did not partake in anything particular, I could still feel the energetic ambience of the environment. It really was great to see so many people come together in one place enjoying a beautiful and festive evening. As this is my first winter in London, I have appreciated everything about the build up to Christmas this year and I will continue to enjoy what’s left of it. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! I look forward to seeing you all on the other side.
