Diverse Team

At Imperial, whenever you go, you can always meet people who speak different languages, and who inspire you with their cultural differences. I really love the differences between people that make our conversations so interesting. I like the fact that everyone works hard and plays hard. We can all be good teammates for serious work but still have fun!

At the beginning of the semester, I teamed up with my coursemates and joined a pub quiz at Imperial. It was my first time experiencing a British pub quiz with teammates coming from different nationalities. With our Portuguese, French, Chinese, Indian and HongKongese background, we managed to answer different questions while enjoying the beer and the laughs. I was so surprised by the extensive knowledge that my coursemates had. It was a really an amazing experience to be around intelligent people from different nationalities!

Even in our coursework, the programme divided us into groups with different mixes of nationalities. In the last semester, we had Bahraini, German, Chinese and HongKongese in my group. Since we studied different bachelors with different skill sets, my teammates always came up with perspectives that I had never imagined. For example, in different classes, we always had the freedom to choose and investigate any interesting topic. In the end, we chose to investigate the post oil economy of Norway in Econometric class, creating an innovative solution for a Chinese cosmetic chain in Strategic Marketing class and analysing a Mexican cement M&A deal in Corporate Strategy class. Through collaborating with people with different backgrounds, I really enjoy this experience of gaining different insights about the world in an international level.

Also, I am very happy about my social life with my friends – having Chinese dinner with my Hongkongese and Singaporean friends whenever I have a craving for Chinese food, having girly brunch with my girls between classes, hiking with my best friends and enjoying a “touristy” brunch with 20 good friends in class nearly taking over the whole restaurant. These will be really good memories that are shared among all of us!

I already have something in mind for our next activity
