Bitcoin is a digital currency created in 2009 (also called cryptocurrency) that is not backed by any country's central bank or government. Every transaction conducted in the bitcoin network is recorded permanently and irrevocably in a public database known as the blockchain.
Designed by the Data Science Institute, this visualisation looks at bitcoin activity across the globe, including a real-time demonstration of bitcoin transactions. By visualising this network pf highly associated data in a large scale environment we are able to accelerate the algorithmic discovery of anomalous transactional patterns, with obvious applications in areas such as fraud detection.
