Admissions tip

1

Our online application form saves your progress as you go – so you don’t have to complete everything in one sitting!

2

Some of our programmes have admissions round deadlines throughout the year – check to see whether your programme of interest is one of them!

3

List clear, quantifiable achievements on your CV – with facts and figures to demonstrate the impact you’ve made.

4

Don’t cut and paste between your personal statement and career plan – they’ll both have less impact if you do!

5

Check out our scholarships and apply for anything that you’re eligible for – even if you need to do an extra essay!

If you’re interested in our Full-Time MBA programme, a number of our available scholarships are attached to the next application deadline on 25 January 2019. Find out more »

6

Make sure transcripts are legible, if scanned at low resolution, and include all courses and years to date.

7

Brief your referees on the programme you’re applying to and your career goals – it will help them write a stronger letter.

8

Regardless of your choice of programme, now is a good time to brush up on your maths skills – all employers value it.

9

When answering the career questions, try not to focus purely on academic skills – we can see these on your transcripts!

10

Use your personal statement to give us a flavour of what you’re really like – preferably in one page. Discuss WHY you want to study at Imperial and on your chosen programme!

11

Your CV should be one page (definitely no more than two). A reviewer should be able to easily see your key achievements.

12

Transferable skills like leadership, teamwork and problem-solving are universal, so highlight them in your application.

13

Do your research and make sure you pick the right programme to apply for based on your background and career goals.

14

Connect with an MBA or MSc Student Ambassador to see what life is really like on your programme and at the Business School!

15

In your career planning statement, include specific real-world examples of your skills and the results of your actions.

16

Show you have done research into your programme in your application – this will also help you at interview.

17

Check out our English requirements before applying. Studied the IB or GCSEs? You may already meet our requirements!

18

Research what your target companies are really looking for before you write your career planning statement.

19

Read our Admissions Blog – it is full of advice and tips on applying for Business School programmes!

20

Provide complete transcripts of all degree-level studies with your online form to avoid delays later.

21

Make sure your referees use their academic or professional emails as we can’t accept references from personal accounts.

22

Don’t submit a great application the day after the application deadline – check our deadlines in advance!
