Careers coaches

Imperial MBA students are able to use Careers for one-to-one careers consultations, to talk about career plans, help you produce CVs and advise on interview techniques. We can also provide insights into companies and sectors.

One of the benefits of maintaining a diverse and relatively small size cohort is that a great deal of work is done on a one-to-one basis, catering to your individual needs. Each MBA student is allocated a coach who they work with over the course of the year. They will need to meet with their coach at least once per term, but many opt to do so more regularly.

Your career coach can work with you on any career related issue from helping you define your career strategy, CV cover letter reviews, mock interviews, through to negotiating offers. Your coach can also help you develop solutions for any leadership or personal development issues you may have. You may also choose to work with your coach on more self-reflection and self-awareness activity.

Monika Pratiwi

My goal was to work in technology, at Google actually, and thanks to the Imperial MBA I have secured my dream job there. I think it would have been hard to get the job without the Imperial College Business School Careers because the career preparation and mock interview process helped me a lot to shape my interviews.

Employer Relations team

Our Employer Relations team proactively target potential employers, to educate them about the strengths and career aspirations of our MBAs, to increase the number of advertised job vacancies and maximise the opportunities for students to meet companies on-campus through student clubs and other networking activities.

The Careers team host a small number of MBA specific company presentations and MBAs are often welcomed at Business School wide employer presentations, so will have the opportunity to network with different companies. Our MBA students are very actively involved in the Career Clubs and a lot of their networking will be done through this channel.

Alumni mentoring

Every other month, a panel of MBA alumni visit the Business School to talk about their experience in a different sector. The alumni involved are happy to mentor current students and we encourage our Imperial MBA students to connect with them to start an informal mentoring relationship where they think there is a good fit for them.

The alumni networking events were beneficial. Two events in particular where alumni were invited to have round table chats with us allowed us to gain valuable advice and network in a more informal environment.
