MSc Investment & Wealth Management

Why did you choose to study your programme and why specifically at Imperial College Business School?
I was looking for a programme that would further enhance my career prospects in the investment management industry while complementing the theoretical concepts gained from the CFA programme. I chose Imperial College Business School because I wanted the best, Imperial offered a combination of the perfect programme in the best institution with world renowned faculty members.

What advice would you give to a prospective student considering studying the same programme as you?
Studying MSc IWM at the Business School was the best decision I have ever made. I came out of Imperial better equipped with the skills and confidence necessary for the world of investment management, ready to work anywhere across the globe. MSc IWM is a very quantitative programme requiring high levels of maths skills and technical abilities. I am proud to have been a member of the first cohort of this programme.

How did you find living in London?
Living in London was a very enjoyable experience for me. I particularly enjoyed the diversity of the London population, and the lively atmosphere of the city.

What was the Business School community like?
I was honoured to be a part of the Business School community, interacting with and learning from world-class faculty and the best students from all over the world. The community was made up of a culturally diverse group of individuals from diverse backgrounds and professions, providing a perfect learning opportunity both within and outside the classroom.

What was a typical day the Business School like?
A typical business day at the Business School involved about 2  3- hour lectures with 1 hour tutorials in between and group meetings to tackle our ever  interesting group assignments and case studies. A typical day would also involve attending the many conferences and events hosted by the Business School in the Evenings.

What do you enjoy most about your work and what are the main challenges that you face?
I enjoy applying the modelling and quantitative skills I learnt at the Business School to my equity analysis.

In what way is remaining connected to your alumni network important to you? What value do you get out of your connections with the Business School and your fellow alumni?
My continued contact with my alumni contact helps me to stay informed about current trends and events in the investment management industry as I continue to interact with my former classmates all across the world. As an offshore equity analyst, sometimes I am able to get useful insights from my alumni network based in Europe concerning macroeconomic and company specific trends affecting some of my subject companies/stocks.

Have you taken advantage of any of the lifelong learning opportunities offered to you as an alumni benefit? Why is it important to you to continue your learning journey?
I continue to take advantage of and learn from lifelong opportunities provided by the School, including career and professional insights from the careers service.
