A London campus like no other
Inspiration starts the minute you arrive. Find yourself in one of London’s most attractive and culturally vibrant areas, our South Kensington campus, or South Ken for short, as it’s affectionately called.
At your leisure discover:
Study on your schedule: our central library, open 24 hours a day
Food for thought: select from a wide range of restaurants, student bars and cafés. Our diverse food offering covers every cuisine from Italian to Asian, and our newest vegan café, Plantworks
The Student Hub: your one-stop-shop for any enquiry
Go to greater lengths: reinvigorate at our state-of-the-art Ethos Sports Centre which includes a 25-metre swimming pool and climbing wall
The Imperial College Union: is your network for events, clubs, societies, facilities and services
Find your space: set-up in a tranquil, green College square next to our iconic, copper-domed Queen’s Tower
A soft spot for South Kensington
The culture triangle: you’re a neighbour to three of London’s most prestigious (and free) museums. Right next door, the Science Museum. Across the road, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and around the corner? The Natural History Museum. From Neolithic to the latest scientific breakthroughs, experience it all just minutes from our doorstep.
The Royal Albert Hall: one of London’s most iconic music venues, established in 1871, host to the BBC Proms and countless world-famous international artists. The exceptional exterior itself is Instagram picture perfect and just around the corner from our campus. This is where your Imperial journey will come to a close with an unforgettable graduation ceremony.
Two Royal Parks: your perfect lunch break? Cross the road and you’re in the leafy Kensington Gardens adjoining Hyde Park. Pause on the steps of the Albert Memorial, browse the contemporary Serpentine Gallery or row the boating lake in summer.
Cafés, shops and Michelin-starred restaurants: a bustling area close to High Street Kensington and Knightsbridge, home to the famous Harrods department store, with tube access to the rest of London via South Kensington station. Our vibrant, multicultural capital city is yours to explore.
Field to campus: South Kensington Farmers’ Market
You don’t have to go far to find the best local produce. Every Tuesday it comes to our campus by Queen’s Lawn, farmers display organic vegetables and local sustainable ingredients are used in everything from fresh bread to pastries. It’s your chance to stock up on the freshest, finest locally sourced meat with a huge variety of vegetarian and vegan options.
A second home in a new world-class facility at White City
From September 2020, some graduate students will get the opportunity to study classes at our new White City campus. The campus has been designed to be an anchor for translation, innovation and entrepreneurship – with a new world-class facility purpose-built for the Business School that fuses technology and business.
Select modules and electives will be taught at the new White City facility, so only some cohorts will be taught across the two campuses, but more details will be released closer to the start of the academic year. And, our White City campus is just a shuttle bus away from our main South Kensington location, and right next door to the GradPad Wood Lane Studios accommodation.
The campus is home to:
- The Imperial Translation & Innovation Hub (I-Hub). A space dedicated to turning world-leading research into new products and services. The building provides space for entrepreneurs, startups, SMEs and other corporations at every stage of their growth
- ThinkSpace. A dynamic, enterprising environment which enables the translation of research into internationally significant technologies
- Imperial White City Incubator. A hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, providing office and laboratory space for early-stage companies
- The Invention Rooms. A unique space in White City providing cutting-edge facilities where the local community and Imperial come together to collaborate, innovate and make
