Choosing the MSc Risk Management & Financial Engineering Programme

The emphasis on the combination of academic knowledge and practical skills makes the programme renowned; and the best choice for potential students worldwide. The core courses in MSc Risk Management & Financial Engineering focus on the development of mathematical, statistical and financial skills, which are significant in this field. The school also provides various electives for students and it includes training on developing computer science skills through Matlab, VBA, C++ and also soft skills, such as presentation.

Being one of the students in MSc Risk Management & Financial Engineering is an exciting experience for me. I’ve built a strong understanding of mathematics, finance and computer programming. I’ve met people from different parts of the world, various backgrounds and learned how to communicate and work with them. This programme enabled me to develop my abilities, such as analytical skills, communication skills, time management, group work, etc., which I believe will prepare me for the job market. I also believe that the different workshops, alumni and recruitment events helped me develop, not only a strong understanding of current financial environment, but also abilities for my future career in this field.

Imperial College Business School’s strong alumni network and its position in London has also been a key factor for me. I also highly valued the school’s academic reputation and their combination of mathematics and practical financial problems.

”Through various lectures, projects and group work, I found that people are friendly, nice and helpful; students here have really different academic backgrounds and working experiences which makes it beneficial for study and for personal development.”

Imperial’s Career and Professional Development Services Team, ranking nearly the top in its field, is one of the key factors that made Imperial College Business School the best, and the only, choice for me. Through the help of the team, I was able to learn how to network in events and be well prepared for my future career from my CV to interviews and assessment centres.

The Career and Professional Development Service provides a great preparation for interviews and assessment centres. Their aim is that you arrive more confident and knowing what to expect at a recruitment event. Having individual appointments is helpful when you need more specific advice for your career development.

The Business School has also a lot of partnerships with financial companies, and we have many company recruitment events throughout the year.

The Imperial community is diverse. Through various lectures, projects and group work, I found that people are friendly, nice and helpful; students here have really different academic backgrounds and working experiences which makes it beneficial for study and for personal development.
