Why did you choose to study MSc Strategic Marketing, and why specifically at Imperial College Business School?

I choose to study MSc. Strategic Marketing because this programme focuses on digital marketing, which is one of the most important trends in this 21st Century. The course for MSc. Strategic Marketing is very practical, one where you will be put into a diverse group of people in order to solve real-life business challenges. In addition to that, the lecturers for this course are renowned on the global level, their knowledge and experiences are priceless. Most importantly, after graduating, you will be branded with Imperial College and this will help open doors for a good career path.

What advice would you give to a prospective student considering studying the same Business School programme as you?

You should first of all like being in a competitive environment, as the standard of work and presentations are increasing rapidly from the first day of study and you must be able to cope with high level of intensity. Secondly, you should think outside the box and come up with realistic solutions for real business challenges. Third, you must be able to adapt yourself to a multi-cultural environment as most of the students from this course are from different parts of the world.

What is your fondest memory from your time at the Business School? / What do you miss most from your days at the Business School?

My fondest memory would be my summer school project where my group and me got to work with Jaguar Land Rover to help resolve their business issues. In this project, we got to work closely with the upper level management team of Jaguar Land Rover and this experience cannot be found elsewhere.

What I missed the most is the Business School Café. This is where me and my group would spend most of our time working together as a team to accomplish each task assigned by our lecturers/company.

How has the Business School helped develop your career?

From my past work experience as a marketing executive at GMM Grammy (entertainment company in Thailand), my focus was only on traditional communication using mass media to communicate to the public. From taking this course at Imperial College Business School, my focus shifted drastically, and I saw a great opportunity in trend analysis through data and how these trends can be useful to a company to develop campaigns that are more targeted to a chosen audiences. With all the knowledge obtained from this Business School, I decided to continue my career in a more quantitative aspect of marketing.

How did you benefit from the services provided by the Business School’s Career and Professional Development Services Team?

I have attended many career presentations. The Career Service team brought to the business school top tier companies such as Uniliver, P&G, Detroit, McKinsey, BCG, Accenture etc. By constantly attend these events I started to know what kind of candidates these companies are looking for. In addition to that, the Career Service team are here to help such as CV check-up, interview preparations and getting the students ready for assessment centres which I found very useful.

What do you enjoy most about your work and what are the main challenges that you face?

I haven’t start work with Facebook yet, I will be starting with them in February. However, the main challenge I found before getting this job is the level of competitiveness amongst other candidates for this role, especially when it is a global company like Facebook.

How do you stay connected with others from your Business School alumni network?

I stay connected with all the alumni through the Facebook and Linkedin groups.

In what way is remaining connected to your alumni network important to you?

Remaining connected to the alumni network is important to me because each of us, after graduated have their specialty in different fields. However, who will know that in the near future, you may need help from people with different expertise to develop your business, therefore, keeping a good and constant relationship with other alumni is very important to me to progress in my professional world.
