The Summer School experience

Why did you decide to study your Summer School course and why did you choose to study with Imperial College Business School?
I was exploring my options for summer school, as I was planning for an MBA after graduation. I looked at different courses offered by summer schools, that’s when I came across Entrepreneurial Smart Camp by Imperial College Business School. The college has a big brand name so I was keen to be taught by teachers from Imperial and be a part of the course. This course helped me to get an overview and gain some insight on the business world.

What made your Summer School experience unique?
Along with helpful and amazing teachers and professors there to guide us throughout the course, the amazing friends and networks I made through the course made my experience absolutely unique and wonderful. I had the opportunity to interact with students and teachers from all over the globe, from different countries, which helped me in my decisions for my future and also make strong connections.

What aspects of the course did you most enjoy?
Throughout the course interactive sessions and lively discussions in the classroom were enjoyable. We also had chance to work with and interact with people from different fields, this helped me in my professional networking.  Summer School classes were hugely interactive and engaging. They were full of activites and discussions. During the classes we had the opportunity to interact with the students and teachers. Also guest speakers in some classes were motivating and helpful.

What was the most challenging part of the course?
Pitching an idea formed within three weeks was a difficult task for us as a team. Since all of the team members were from different backgrounds, it was challenging to come up with an idea and work on our team skills to present at the end of the course.

Imperial places a large emphasis on group work. What inspires you the most about working in this type of environment?
Working in a team helps you to sharpen your leadership qualities , team skills and patience. It also helped me to understand the culture and background of other team members as well. It helped me to gain a perspective from other people’s point of view.

What parts of the social programme did you most enjoy?
I loved the trip to Cambridge where I got to explore the famous University of Cambridge along with many other prestigious colleges. The trip to Brighton was also one of the best moments of the course.

A wealth of opportunities

What has been the greatest opportunity during your summer at Imperial that you don’t think you would get anywhere else?
I think the kind of education and knowledge I gained and the way I learned at Imperial is absolutely unique. Our classes were always interactive and engaging which helped us to learn in an enjoyable manner. By studying in London, I got to explore the city and the culture, London has to offer. I had the chance to interact one on one with people from the business field, which I don’t think would have been provided anywhere else.

What are your future career goals and how do you think your time at Imperial will help you achieve these?
Studying on the Entrepreneurial Smart Camp has helped me realise the core of creating your own business. It has helped me to understand the steps and knowledge necessary to start your own venture. I think after the course I feel more confident about starting my own business and entering the business world.

Living in London

Where did you stay in London?
I stayed at Beit Hall in South Kensington, which is just five minutes from the campus. I chose Beit Hall because it is close to the campus, it is also very close to the station as well as all the museums in the locality.

What can a weekend in London look like for a Summer School student?
A weekend in London is nothing short of an adventure. The city has so much to offer, great places, restaurants, everything within reach from the college. This city has everything for an amazing weekend.
