The Summer School experience

Why did you decide to study your Summer School course and why specifically did you choose to study with Imperial College Business School?
I chose to study here because I love London, wanted to meet people from all around the world and I wanted to enrich my CV, so studying at the summer school perfectly fits my wishes. I chose to study at Imperial College Business School because the College ranking and also the Business School is renowned.

What makes your Summer School unique?
It is my first time studying at a university outside Hong Kong, and I feel that the style of learning and teaching are really different here. It is more interactive and people are more willing to voice out their opinion. Lecturers do not just simply read from the slides but share their experiences, linking it to the content, which I found really interesting.

What aspects of the course did you most enjoy?
The academic trips, they were really interesting and I learned more about different aspects of marketing.

What is the most challenging part of the course?
It must be having to complete the group project within three weeks, with people you have just met and all of them having different working styles. So we always communicated with one another and shared our thoughts, in order to work better and adopt different working methods and styles.

Imperial places a large emphasis on group work, what inspires you the most about working in this type of environment?
You need to communicate well with the others, as all of us have different working styles and methods, so we really need to tell each other what we think and figure out a way that suits everyone.

How would you describe your cohort at Imperial?
It is really interactive, everyone is proactive and willing to share their thoughts and opinions, which makes the class more interesting and reflective.

A wealth of opportunities

What has been the greatest opportunity during your summer at Imperial that you don’t think you would get anywhere else?
Getting to meet different people from different parts of the world in order to enrich my social circles, and all the lecturers are really amazing.

What are your future career goals and how do you think your time at Imperial will help you achieve these?
I would like to work in a hedge fund company, and studying at Imperial has helped me to build my social networks from all around the world.

Living in London

Where are you staying in London and why did you choose to stay there?
Wilson house, it is at a convenient location as you can walk to campus, Oxford Street etc.

What can a weekend in London look like for a Summer School student?
It is really amazing that you can go to different places in London, there are many things to see and explore here. So make sure you make good use of the weekend and explore some new places!

What is the most exciting thing you’ve done in London?
Going to the British Museum, I had never been there before. I love the film Night at the Museum so much, so going there in person was really exciting, I did not know it was so huge.
