Responsible for all activity and matters relating to the normal working of the Department. On issues relating to policy and planning, he is advised by his senior academic staff together with the Departmental Operations Manager. For the day-to-day management of student-related matters, he delegates executive authority to departmental officers.

Responsible for the coordination of departmental administration and is especially responsible for the monitoring and control of the financial planning and financial activities of the whole department.  She is also managerial assistant to the Head of Department.

Safety Officer

Responsible for advice and guidance on, and reporting of, health and safety matters including risk assessments and safety training for staff and students. He ensures that necessary controls for managing risks are implemented effectively and conform with College and legal requirements. He monitors and reviews health and safety management, undertakes safety inspections and investigates accidents and near misses.

His role includes the provision of support to students in their quest to secure graduate positions as well as internships during their studies. Responsible for the overall administration of the PhD programme. He ensures that College Research Degree regulations are upheld. He chairs the Department Postgraduate Research Management Committee and the examiners approval panel. He works closely with supervisors - monitoring progress to ensure timely completion and submission of theses. He reports to the College Postgraduate Research Quality Committee.
