As a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach I enjoy working with teams and individuals, helping them to identify and use their own unique strengths to face challenges, develop their teams and improve well-being. Having run Strengths Finders workshops for several years, I have often been approached by students wanting to discuss their strengths and develop strategies to apply them. ECRI's coaching sessions offer just such an opportunity to work together. You can view my Imperial College profile here .

I was first introduced to the value of coaching and mentoring during my time in sport as an international referee. I realized the benefits and challenges coaching can bring to your personal development in terms of building confidence, resilience and developing strategies for progression. Like the PhD journey, officiating felt very much a solitary and lonely experience and coaching provided an ally. The opportunity to have frank, confidential, non-judgemental and honest conversations allows you the opportunity to fully explore and appraise your goals and strategies for achieving them. It is very rewarding to see coachee’s find their own way forward and supporting that process is a privilege.

Postgraduate study can be an amazing experience, but it can also be difficult for many reasons. Coaching with ECRI is an opportunity for an honest, confidential discussion of your current situation, an exploration of your options for improving it, and support to put your plans into action. I have over ten years’ experience as a coach at Imperial, working with a solution-focused approach. I find it very rewarding to be able to support students to find their way through professional and personal challenges towards positive outcomes.

I am passionate about helping postgraduate researchers realise their unique potential and reach their goals both inside and outside academia. Alongside leading ECRI's Research Impact Programme for doctoral students and the Cornerstone Programme for supervisors, I embarked on a CMI Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring qualification in October 2022 and joined the Postgraduate Coaching Team in January 2023. Doctoral research can bring a wide range of opportunities and challenges and through coaching I aim to provide you with a confidential and safe space to explore topics that are important to you to help you grow and flourish along your PhD journey!
