Grid solutions - Transforming electricity networks to enable the energy transition
On 26 March 2019 Energy Futures Lab hosted Dr Vera Silva the Chief Technology Officer of GE Grid Solutions for the Energy Futures Lab Annual Lecture.
During the talk Vera discussed the challenges and needs of the grid of the future and how recent technology development in the areas of HVDC, FACTS, HV equipment, grid automation, grid software, data analytics and hedge devices management are being used. She also talked about the R&D challenges and new grid solutions to facilitate very high shares of renewables and accommodate the growing electrification needs.
