Imperial College London provides a range of support for parents, including generous leave allowances, shared parental leave, a Parent Buddy Scheme and other networks, and a flexible working policy. The Department also offers childcare vouchers (current staff can access further information on the Departmental intranet) which can be used to support academic activities such as attending conferences.
The Department encourages academic staff to apply for the Elsie Widdowson Fellowship award. The Fellowships are for academic staff (male or female) returning to work following maternity, adoption and/or shared parental leave and allows the Department to relieve the academic of teaching or administrative duties in order to concentrate fully on research.
